Long Summer at Home

Since I’m housebound like the rest of the country, and unable to make my usual summer treks to see friends and attend various conferences, I thought I would wistfully talk about my summer plans.

Fortunately, my home state of Montana is one of the nicest places in the world to spend the summer.  Mountains so green they hurt your eyes, a few snow-topped peaks even this late in the year.

We have a small travel trailer, so we can do a little RV camping.  That helps break the monotony of looking out the same windows every day.  Even if the view is lovely, I long for a meal in a fun restaurant, or a night at the movies.

Though I’m not a fan of hot weather, I’ve come to love the Arizona high desert country.  The temperature averages near ninety degrees, but it’s nothing like the big heat in Phoenix or Tucson.  We had a trip planned there, but sadly it has been canceled.  Still have hopes of attending a conference in South Dakota in the fall.

In the past, we spent a month at the beach near Santa Barbara.  Ah, those were the days….  Sun, ocean, and perfect weather.  Perhaps next year.

Denver is one of my favorite places.  I’m a high-country lady at heart.  Which is the reason I began searching Colorado for a place to set for my next book.  After reading an article about the army chemical weapons depot near Fort Carson, I was off and running.

In the THE ULTIMATE BETRAYAL, book #3 in my Maximum Security series, out July 28, when investigative journalist Jessie Kegan’s father, a colonel in the army, is accused of treason, she’s determined to clear his name.  With her life in danger, Jessie turns to former Special Ops soldier, Brandon Garrett.  But time is running out and the game being played is deadly.

Working together, Bran and Jessie risk everything to solve the riddle and confront the threat–before it’s too late.

I hope you’ll watch for THE ULTIMATE BETRAYAL and that you can travel vicariously to some of the settings in the book.  Until next time, all best and happy reading.
